# Nostro
> European financial infrastructure for AI agents. Every agent gets its own virtual card and budget in your company's name, spends inside a policy you set, and is driven over MCP.

## Status
- Private preview. Today only the sandbox is open: simulated money, same tools, no KYB.
- Nostro is a software layer, not a bank. Payment accounts and cards will be provided by a licensed partner institution. No real funds are held during the preview.

## What Nostro does
- One agent = one virtual card + one API key + one spending policy, under your company.
- Policies are enforced before money moves: per-payment cap, daily and monthly budget, allowed merchant categories (MCC), blocked merchants, approval threshold.
- Anything above the approval threshold waits for a human decision.
- Full audit log of every call, payment and decision.

First calls, in order:
  1. get_wallet()                                  remaining budget, limits, card status
  2. pay({ amount, merchant, mcc?, description? }) settled | refused | pending approval
  3. get_request_status({ requestId })             when a payment waits for approval

Rules: call get_wallet before spending. Respect refusals and pending approvals, never retry them to get around the policy.
